Barcelona will host Liverpool at the Camp Nou in the first leg of the 2018-2019 Champions League semifinal on Thursday (05/02/2019). Barcelona and Liverpool both have reasons to be optimistic.

Barcelona is on-fire after last weekend to ensure themselves to be champions of La Liga this season. Now, Barcelona can focus fully on Europe.

Barcelona are also unbeaten in the Champions League this season. Including among them against two British representatives, namely reaching 4 points from Tottenham in the group phase (4-2 away, 1-1 home) and winning aggregate in the quarter-finals over Manchester United (1-0 away, 3-0 home).

Speaking of the quality of the squad, Marc-Andre ter Stegen was very reliable under the crossbar. Gerard Pique and Clement Lenglet are the mainstays in the heart of defense. The midfield held by Sergio Busquets and Ivan Rakitic were able to compete with any team in terms of possession.

The Blaugrana is also identical to the scheme of three attackers. For this match, two of the three positions in Barcelona’s attack line will be filled by Philippe Coutinho and Luis Suarez. For Coutinho and Suarez, this is a special match against their former club.

Only, these two players have not been in the best performances lately. Coutinho had even been showered with criticism, despite scoring a beautiful goal when Barcelona rolled Manchester United. Meanwhile, Suarez only scored one goal in his last five appearances.
