Liverpool will face Cardiff City at Cardiff City Stadium in the Week 35 Premier League match on Sunday (4/21/2019). The Reds are determined to gain three points, in order to heat up competition in the championship trophy hunt.
However, Cardiff also carried the ambition to win. They need full points to try to get out of the red zone.
Cardiff City did not want to catch up with Huddersfield Town and Fulham, who have been confirmed to be relegated. The ambition to survive was seen in the 2-0 win over hosts Brighton, with goals from Nathaniel Mendez-Laing and Sean Morrison last weekend.
However, they certainly understand if Liverpool are opponents whose dimensions are different. What’s more, the Reds are also very excited after ensuring themselves qualify for the Champions League semifinals thanks to a 6-1 aggregate advantage over FC Porto in the quarter-finals.
At the first meeting of the season, Liverpool silenced Cardiff 4-1 at Anfield. Liverpool’s goals were scored by Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane (2) and Xherdan Shaqiri, while Callum Paterson scored Cardiff’s only goal.
The Red squad won the last nine Premier League matches against promotion teams, scored 27 goals and conceded only three.
Liverpool have never recorded ten consecutive wins over promotion teams, and this is a good opportunity for them to do so, while returning to the top of the standings.
At present, Liverpool are ranked second in the Premier League standings with a value of 85. They are two points behind Manchester City who rose to the top, after a 1-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur.
